The biggest problem with the softball pitcher and producing force is that she leads with the head and shoulders rather than the hips. At the moment of release we should see a straight body position or one in which the hips are actually in front of the shoulders. If the hips were leading perhaps she would then get more complete hip rotation, the force of which could then be transferred to the shoulders and arm.
