The Biomechanical Analysis of Your Golf Swing

In the bio-mechanical analysis of your swing not only are the strong points of your swing brought out, but also the actions that can be improved or corrected to make the swing even more effective. For the analysis we require a video film of the front and side views (front of the body as contact is made with the ball and from the rear to see the side of the body during the swing. The analysis is not a mere description of the swing. It goes into the why of each action and why it must be modified or changed to make it more effective. Also noted is the range of motion, sequence of action and how effective each joint action is in contributing to the production of maximum force (speed) of the clubhead. In the analysis you will learn why certain aspects of the swing have to be modified, and why other aspects must be enhanced. Making corrections After the analysis you’ll be shown how to make the changes that are needed. Muscle weaknesses, or lack of flexibility or coordination will also be noted. We take you through each of the key of a movements so that you learn how each modification feels to enchance the learning. We make changes in your ability to execute the key actions! We do not merely describe achieving a particular posture or position. Certain positions are achieved by the very actions that you perform, not vice versa.. Enhancing the swing Based on the analysis and the modifications needed you will be given specialized strength and flexibility exercises that duplicate the exact actions that you must learn or which you must change. By doing these exercises you will develop the physical ability to make the changes as needed faster than by any other method. This is most important in learning the swing and in making modifications in the swing. The Specialized strength and flexibility exercises The special special strength and flexibility exercises used in the golf improvement program are highly specific to the swing actions. In essence, they duplicate exact portions of the swing technique. More specifically, they duplicate the exact joint actions seen in the swing. The use the same type of muscular contractions and the same range of motion seen in each key joint action. For example, there is an exercise to duplicate the wrist action, hip rotation, shoulder rotation, the arm action, etc. These exercises have an immediate effect on your swing. You will see dramatic changes very quickly.. The exercises specific to your swing are included in your individualized training program. They are also available in Dr. Yessis’s book EXPLOSIVE GOLF. Active stretches Active stretches for golf are very different from the static stretches typically recommended. When doing static stretches you hold a position for 30-60 or more seconds in which the muscles must completely relax. In active stretches you perform a movement to develop not only greater flexibility but to prepare the muscles for action. If resistance is used in the active stretch you can also gain strength through the full range of motion. There are active stretches to help you tune up the muscles for beginning to play, as well as active stretches for additional flexibility or flexibility together with strength. These stretches are most important in overall conditioning and especially when the duplicate an action in the golf swing. This not only cuts down and enhances your workout time, but is more specific to the demands of golf. Developing the physical ability to learn an effective swing There are many “golf” fitness programs available which can help you get into better shape, which in turn may allow you to play better. However, most fitness programs are not specific to golf. The exercises do not duplicate what occurs in the swing. In fact, if you cross out golf and substitute tennis, running, or most any other sport you will see that the exercise program remains basically the same. In essence, these fitness programs recommend exercises to strengthen all the major muscle groups of the body which of course is important in physical fitness. But the key to learning or enhancing greatly or to making effective changes in the golf swing is to duplicate exactly what occurs in the golf swing. Thus when learning or improving the swing, it is necessary to learn the key body actions. This means you must learn how to use the hips, shoulders, arms, etc. In essence, all the major body part movements must be mastered before the finer points of the swing are attempted. Once the major body part actions are executed well, the finer points of the game become relatively easy to master. In the golf training program developed by Dr. Yessis, you will learn the key body actions which will give you success in the swing almost immediately. Once you learn the body actions that are involved, your ability to master the total swing will become much easier and will take much less time. This is especially true for women who typically do not have the athletic backgrounds of most men. Thus the golf improvement program can be of great benefit to people who have been playing golf for many years as well as for beginners. Keep in mind that once you learn a particular swing it becomes much more difficult to make changes especially if it is a poor swing and is well engrained in your nervous system. But by learning the right or most effective body actions, making changes to the swing becomes easier. When you do core body exercises, you not only learn how the swing is best executed, but you also develop a muscular feel that you can incorporate into the total swing. Training Aids As depicted in the explosive golf book and as brought out in various articles in the different golf categories. Some of the more useful training aids include the Total Athlete Syste,™. The Total Athlete System™ consist of a special hip belt, rubber tubing and accessories developed by Dr. Yessis. They are used most effectively to duplicate sports specific movements, as well as for general fitness and conditioning exercises. Included are three different tension tubes (which can be used separately or together), a hip belt (which does not slide), handles, an ankle cuff, and dual attachment for door or posts. The only cords that allow you to do full range-hip rotation as needed in the throwing and hitting, plus exercises for th entire body. Medicine Balls Medicine Balls for strength and explosive training. Especially great for rotational movements. Medicine balls come in different sizes and weights. In some cases, you can get different weights in the same size. Some balls have textured covers while others are smooth but yet firm to the grip. Specify weight and texture and we will supply the price. They run from approximately $15 for a light ball to over $100 with increasing weight and size. Strength Bars Get total wrist and forearm development with the Strength Bar. Ideal for maximum range supination-pronation, ulna and radial flexion, and wrist muscles especially for golf, tennis, and baseball players. A must for all athletes in throwing and hitting sports and bodybuilding. Exer Rings The most effective and easy-to-use equipment for maximum development of the forearm, hand and fingers. Over 50 exercises to improve the grip and strength of the individual finger and wrist muscles in any or all of their actions. Sports, therapy, and combination sets available.
