Preparing the Future Bodybuilder

According to P. K. Durkin the main motivator for beginning participation in sport for most school children is all-around body improvement and good health. Later on the leading role is played by the sport in which they specialize. Other motivating factors are include, 1) becoming a ranked athlete or making a professional team, 2) material gain, and 3) an individualized approach for young athletes.

Motivation is built in four stages:

STAGE 1. Testing with controlled exercises on the physical preparation on youngsters.

STAGE 2. Motor skills for preparation of an athlete.

STAGE 3. Individual work on improving the lagging motor skills in each session.

STAGE 4. Physical preparation of the participants in executing different exercises. There should be individualized norms for the youngsters.
