A Great Way to Start and Continue

I’ve been receiving quite a few reports from coaches and athletes telling me how my book, Secrets of Russian Sports Fitness and Training, has been their “bible” in establishing effective and successful training programs. They tout this book as being responsible for much of their success.

I am always happy to hear such comments especially in view of the hundreds, if not thousands of books aimed at improving athletes. It is especially gratifying to know that the knowledge gained from this book has been applied in an effective manner.

All too often people skim books, only stopping to read a few small sections in more detail. As a result, they often miss some very critical information or do not completely comprehend points being made.

In Secrets of Russian Sports Fitness and Training the information is quite diverse but yet, concentrated in the major key areas that have been found to be the “secrets” to successful development of an athlete. Understand that there are no shortcuts in the training of an athlete. No one can get to the top without following the basic guidelines.

However, these basics are often ignored and coaches and athletes look for shortcuts, as for example, the taking of steroids. In a way, they make the training of an athlete more complex and more difficult by doing this. They rely on external factors that can affect the training but cannot replace the training.

Reading the book Secrets of Russian Sports Fitness and Training presents simple and easy to understand concepts and guidelines that when applied, can result in successful development of an athlete. I always knew this and I’m gratified that others are also finding this to be true.

Probably the reason for its continued success is that this book presents guidelines and information that are new to U.S. coaches and athletes. All too often we still have coaches and university professors who disregard and refuse to look at Russian training methods; methods that enabled them to achieve worldwide recognition and success.

They still believe that success of the former Soviets was due only to drugs. This could not be further from the truth. I hope you will all take a look at this book and apply some of the information in your training. I can guarantee that it will make you more successful.

For information see Secrets of Russian Sports Fitness and Training. Related to this book is Build a Better Athlete which to a good extent, is also based on Russian principles.
